XPO trucker is grand championship of NJ driving contest

XPO Logistics' Wilbert Vano with TDC Committee Chairman Carlos Ortiz from NFIXPO Logistics' Wilbert Vano with TDC Committee Chairman Carlos Ortiz from NFIA driver for XPO was named the grand champions of the New Jersey Motor Truck Association's recent Truck Driving Championships.

XPO's Wilbert Vano won the competition's top award as well as the three-axel class and the written exam class.

Dwayne Stephenson, who drives for FedEx Express, was named rookie of the year.

 4 Axle Winner: Thomas Michi – United Parcel Service

5 Axle Winner: Doug Simonelli – A. Duie Pyle

 Flatbed Winner: Joseph Drayton – United Parcel Service

 Sleeper Berth Winner: Kevin Byrnes – United Parcel Service

 Straight Truck Winner: Eddie Conrad – FedEx Express

 Tank Truck Winner: Antonio Domazetovski – United Parcel Service

 Twin Trailers Winner: Remedios (Mario) Camacho - FedEx Freight

 Step Van Winner: Ron Price – United Parcel Service

 Written Exam Winner: Wilbert Vano – XPO 

 Pre-Trip Inspection Winner: Carlos Chavarriaga – United Parcel Service

 Road Course Winner: Eddie Conrad – FedEx Express

 Large Team Champions: United Parcel Service

 Small Team Champions: FedEx Express

The class winners qualify to compete inthe American Trucking Associations' National Truck Driving Competition, which will be held Aug. 21-24 in Indianapolis.
