Two men arrested for suspected fuel theft at California Love's

Truckper pumping diesel fuel

Two California men were recently arrested for the alleged theft of diesel fuel.

The Barstow Police Department reports on Thursday, May 30, at abouit 1:33 P.M., Officer Jordyn Jara responded to Love's Travel Stops regarding theft of diesel fuel. A statement from the department said Jara made contact with the loss prevention officer at the travel center who stated there were two male adults parked at a fuel pump who had used a fraudulent access code to fuel their semi-tractor trailer. The loss prevention officer stated that the suspect’s bill was over $3,500, which was not ordinary and consistent with theft.

Officer Jara located the two suspects and their semi-tractor trailer. The suspects were identified as 38-year-old Artak Nadarian and 34-year-old Varden Tadevosyan, both residents of North Hollywood.

During the investigation, Jara noticed that the tractor’s gas tank receiver had a mechanism, which redirected the fuel to four additional large tanks that were concealed in the trailer. Nadarian and Tadevosyan were taken into custody and booked at the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Adelanto Jail and charged with grand theft.
