A man suspected of shooting and killing a truck driver last month on Interstate 20 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana was recently arrested in Mississippi.
Amanvir Singh, 34, of Flowood, Mississippi near Jackson was arrested Wednesday night on a second-degree murder warrant issued by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Singh, a foreign national, is accused in the shooting death of Gurprett Singh Judge, 36, of Yuba City, California.
KTBS-TV reports Caddo sheriff’s investigators said Singh and Judge knew each other, and that the shooting was not road rage as initially thought. The motive for the April 23 shooting is still under investigation.
Dash cams of passing trucks caught part of an altercation between the two. Investigators said they believe the men got out of their vehicles, the trucker reportedly took a swing at the other man with what appeared to be a flashlight then started to run when the other man pulled a gun. Investigators said the man who had been driving the dark-colored SUV shot the trucker several times before driving away headed toward Texas.
Singh was arrested in his vehicle without incident in Flowood by Caddo sheriff’s detectives and local officers on a fugitive task force. He is expected to be extradited to Caddo Parish, which is located in the northwest corner of the state on the Texas-Louisiana state line.
