Truckers wait up to 8 hours to cross border; damage to economy expected

Texas has resumed "enhanced inspections" of northbound trucks at the U.S.-Mexico border, increasing the time it takes to cross.

KTSM-TV reports it normally takes about an hour to make the border crossing, but the inspection initiated by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to combat immigrants from entering the state illegally has increased that time to eight hours.

The added wait time is expected to have a ripple effect on the economy of the entire country, according to one college professor and economist.
